More than ever, Hamilton is THE watch brand to have in the movies. After Men in Black, Interstellar, and Indiana Jones, it is featured in Dune 2, the new anticipated masterpiece by Denis Villeneuve.
More than just a simple screen appearance, Hamilton has outright created a Desert Watch with an ultra-futuristic look for the needs of the film. And so that the inhabitants of Arrakis are not the only ones to benefit, two limited editions of the iconic Ventura are also landing on Earth this February 2024.
The Desert Watch from Dune, a watch truly unlike any other
Since 1932, Hamilton has claimed a wide presence in Hollywood, with “watches appearing in more than 500 major films”. In 2024, the brand born in Pennsylvania (but now owned by the Swatch Group) writes a new chapter in its history with the seventh art, by partnering with Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment.
At the request of director Denis Villeneuve, the creative teams at Hamilton worked on creating a watch for the film Dune: Second Part. Knowing the universe of Frank Herbert’s novel, we know that this timepiece cannot be just a simple casing with three hands… But it must be acknowledged that the Desert Watch created by Hamilton surpasses anything we could have imagined!
This time, the brand did not dip into its archives to develop a new model, but started from a blank slate: “The world of Dune demanded a completely different approach.” Indeed, without knowing the exact function of the device, Hamilton’s designers knew that the watch should not tell the time. Working closely with Doug Harlocker, the film’s props manager, they therefore designed a futuristic-looking accessory. A robust device, “with a distinctly Fremen identity” and perfectly rooted in the world of the planet Arrakis.
Approved by Denis Villeneuve himself, this Desert Watch will probably not steal the show from Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, but it should not go unnoticed on-screen.

Two new limited blue editions for the Ventura
The Desert Watch, developed by Hamilton, is exclusively intended for Arrakis (and the big screen). However, for those who love watches that are out of the ordinary, one model has been essential for more than 60 years: the Ventura! And precisely, on the occasion of the release of Dune 2 in theaters, on February 28, 2024, two new limited editions will be launched.
Of course, we find the iconic triangular case, while colorful details evoke the characteristic blue eyes of the Fremen. As for the rest, the Ventura XXL Bright also stands out with its button that allows for the blue luminous lines of the Desert Watch dial to be recreated.
With its generous size (52mm x 47.6mm), it too will not go unnoticed on your wrist! The 3000 copies produced are sold at 1845€.
Finally, to enhance the futuristic SF look, Hamilton also designed a special edition of its Ventura Edge with a barely smaller black VD steel case (51 x 47.2 mm) and a digital display… blue of course! Limited to 2000 copies, this version sees its price increase to €2595.
