Tudor sees life through rose-colored glasses with its new Black Bay and it’s a success.

The new version of the Tudor Black Bay may not appeal to everyone, but that’s very good news. Precisely because there won’t be enough for everyone!

In the wake of announcing its partnership with Inter Miami football club, the Swiss brand has indeed unveiled a surprising chronograph with a pink dial!

A pink dial for those who dare

Asian pop king, Jay Chou has made the color pink his signature. The distinctive jersey of the leader of the Tour of Italy for cyclists is pink. When David Beckham became the owner of Inter Miami FC, he chose to dress his players in a pink jersey to help them stand out. Ambassador for the Tudor brand since 2017, the former Spice Boy is undoubtedly not a stranger to the new partnership that now ties the Swiss brand to the Florida soccer club. And therefore, it is certainly no coincidence to see the iconic Black Bay adorned with a new unprecedented dial shade this spring 2024.

“Born to Dare”. In other words, “born to dare”. The slogan of Tudor has never seemed so justified as with the launch of this Black Bay Pink, which has already caused quite a buzz (so to speak) on social media.

While it may be surprising, this new shade is part of a broader trend in luxury watchmaking, that of colorful dials. From green, to yellow, to red, to turquoise… and sometimes even all of it at once. Since the beginning of the 2020s, brands are not afraid to put a twist on their most emblematic models, even if it does not please everyone! Tudor, in fact, makes this point clear by stating that its Black Bay pink will not be available to everyone, but only produced in a limited quantity… without revealing the exact number of copies.

The Black Bay chrono for the first (and last?) time in pink

A few months after seeing the Barbiecore trend sweep into men’s fashion, Tudor has thus turned to pink for its Black Bay. Originally designed for its ambassador Jay Chou, this new version of the Swiss chrono will therefore also be available to the general public.

The sister brand of Rolex likes to point out that its watch was already bold even before the introduction of this new dial color. Between motor racing and diving, Tudor has continuously reinvented its chronographs and other chic sports models. However, after the burgundy red of 2023 on the bezel, the pink dial of this Black Bay is touted as one of the stars of Watches & Wonders 2024.

In this new version, the 41mm steel case showcases a bi-compax dial, with two black sub-dials for the 45-minute totalizer and the small second. For the rest, the watch remains very traditional, with the usual date window at 6 o’clock, the Snowflake hands covered with Super-LumiNova and the second hand punctuated with a red arrow.

Under this famous colored dial, the Black Bay Chrono Pink (ref. 79360N-0019) can rely on a movement certified by the COSC, specifically the calibre manufacture MT5813, with its column wheel movement, silicon spiral, and its 70 hours of power reserve.

Dressed with an iconic 5-link steel bracelet (which obviously evokes the Rolex Jubilee) with a T-Fit clasp, this new Black Bay rose is guaranteed for 5 years and offered at a price of 5720 euros.
